Margaret Carroll has written four novels. Two are currently in print. Both are romantic comedies from Avalon Books. THE TRUE MATCH is set in NYC (Margaret's hometown) and follows the adventures of a young woman trying to get her love life and career back on track after being jilted at the altar. The book is written in the same lighthearted chick-lit style as Margaret's first novel, THE WRITE MATCH (Avalon).
Margaret makes her debut in the suspense market in 2009, with back-to-back worldwide releases of A DARK LOVE and RIPTIDE (both HarperCollins). A DARK LOVE tells the story of a young wife who flees an abusive marriage by starting life over in a small Rocky Mountain town. RIPTIDE is set in New York's famed summer community, the Hamptons, where a millionaire businessman drowns after a night of hard partying and his wife is suspected of murder.
Margaret Carroll writes fiction part-time in addition to being a full-time mother and homemaker. Her fiction builds on 20 years' global public relations and journalism experience. She has served on award-winning marketing teams, as President of an industry organization dedicated to raising standards for public relations professionals, and has traveled the globe.
She was founder and sole proprietor of Carroll Communications, a successful marketing and P.R. consultancy in Santa Fe, N.M., that represented several of the region's leading attractions.
From 1998 until summer of 2000, she was Director of Advertising & Public Relations for The Luxury Collection and St. Regis hotels, a group of 57 four- and five-star hotels owned and operated by Starwood Hotels & Resorts of New York. Starwood also owns the Sheraton, Westin, W and Four Points brands.
Immediately prior, Margaret was a member of the North America Public Relations management team for 10 years for British Airways, based in New York City, with several secondments to the company's worldwide headquarters in London and frequent overseas travel around the world. She earned a Silver PRSA Award in 1998 for her work to publicize the raising of a half-scale mode of the Concorde in Times Square. She was voted President of the North American Airline Public Relations Association in 1996, one of very few women at that time to hold that post.
Prior to joining British Airways in 1988, Margaret worked as a business trade journalist covering aviation and luxury travel. She worked at Corporate Meetings & Incentives Magazine, served as Editor of E.F. Hutton's daily worldwide Investors newsletter, Aviation Editor of Travel Agent Magazine, and Assistant-to-Editor at Standard & Poor's Daily Record.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and has completed numerous writing seminars and workshops.
She resides with her family now in Michigan in a seventy-five year old Tudor house that is a great place to write. They live with Buddy, a Scottish Terrier, who makes sure the mice stay outside.
