Welcome, 2008! A new contract, a new publisher, a new agent, a new release and a new direction for my fiction... fasten your seatbelts, liebchen, and hold on tight!
For starters, THE TRUE MATCH is coming in April from Avalon Publishing. THE TRUE MATCH is my second romantic comedy set in NYC that tracks the highs and lows and love life of Ruby Lattingly, an upper East Side model who has just landed her own reality TV show. Check out my "Books" section for a preview and a look at the cover. Check out a copy at your local library, or order it at any bookstore.
My big news is I've signed a multiple-book contract with HarperCollins for worldwide English rights to two psychological thrillers. The first, A DARK LOVE, will be released as an Avon mass market paperback in early 2009. It is the cat-and-mouse story of a young wife on the run from her abusive husband (check out my "Books" section for more info).
HarperCollins has also purchased the rights to my next thriller, set in the Hamptons in high season where a life of great privilege and wealth comes to a shocking end... and even the highest privet hedges can't hide the secrets of a marriage gone terribly wrong. The book has a working title of RUN, CHRISTINA, RUN. Watch this space for updates. RUN, CHRISTINA, RUN is planned for worldwide release in 2010.
For this, I can thank my amazing new agent, Stephanie Cabot, and her stellar team at NYC's Gernert Company (they also rep John Grisham, among others). Once we had a meeting of the minds, Stephanie took all of two business days to land me a contract with one of the most talented editors in the world. Goodbye, slush pile...
I'm very excited about this new direction for my work. Thrillers are my favorites (and to be honest, as a busy mom I don't squeeze in much Tolstoy and Melville these days), so of course I'm happiest writing those. My brand of thrillers are psychological with lots of heart and soul (that includes a smattering of romance), heavy on the atmosphere (all those years in the travel biz have served me well, not to mention summers in the Hamptons and the years I called midtown Manhattan home).
I believe the most exciting and arduous journey most people never take is the one that explores the farthest reaches of their own mind. You can watch my characters do some serious four-wheeling in my upcoming releases. So you get to sit back, relax, and leave the driving to us.
Best wishes,
